We all want to speak english fluently but as we are not native speakers so we generally hesitate to speak english in front of other people.

The very first thing which we need to understand is that english is not our native language. It's our second or probably third language. So it's quite obvious that we have to learn it.

Now here the next question arises that what we need to focus on while learning English? Initially, we need to focus on vocabulary with correct pronunciation because if we don't know the meaning than we won't able to speak a single word. Once we find ourselves in a condition where we learnt enough words to form sentences then we should focus on grammar. Grammar is equally important for any language so we can't avoid that also.

Now there are few rules which we need to remember & follow.

1. Practise the core skills as much as possible i.e. reading, writing, listening & speaking. Don't hesitate to make mistakes. Be confident & speak often & with as many people as as you can. The more you practice the better your fluency will be. Remember, speaking is a skill which will be better when you practice it more & more.

2. Don't translate from your native language to english as every language is having their own set of protocols so if you translate you will surely make mistake. Initially you have to translate but once you learn enough english vocabulary, idioms & phrases don't translate & speak. Just speak without thinking as we are speaking our native language. This will improve your fluency.

3. Read english news paper or novel or any english book of your interest. Surround yourself with english so that you can learn english passively. Best way to learn is to make english a part of your life like at home, at work, speak with friends as much as possible & during your free time just read or listen audiobooks or podcasts.

4. Read loudly so that you can hear your own voice. In this way you will learn & also remember those sentences. Or you can record yourself while speaking & listen it back to see how your english sounds. In this way you will understand where you need to improve.

5. Watch english movies. Initially with subtitles but later try to watch without subtitles. The more you listen the more you learn. Try to mirror whatever you listen & in this way you will learn new words, pronunciation & also come to know where to stress in words like HAPpy, TEAcher, Tea, aGREE, guaranTEE etc.

6. Listen audiobooks, podcasts or english songs & try to sing with it. Also write down the summaries what you have heard. Its a great skill to do but bit challenging as well. This is the best way to learn english by yourself while enjoying.

7. Always try to think & talk to yourself in english. Initially it would be tough but gradually you will be habituated to think in english.

8. Try to memorize idioms or short phrases. It improves your quality of english & you will sound more like native speakers.

9. Try to learn everyday at least five new English words & also use them in your sentences so that you can remember those words.

10. The best way to learn grammar is through talking & also try to learn the basic rules of grammar like with He, She, It we use "does" & with We, You, They we use "Does".

11. Always remember one thing when we enjoy something we learn more quickly. So while learning english enjoy it as much as possible so that you won't loose interest & learn promptly.

Remember nobody can learn anything over night so be patient & learn dedicatedly. It might take some time but don't loose interest. Practice as much as possible. While speaking be confident & always try to speak english whenever you can.

Always remember one thing that english is not your first language so you can make mistake which is ok but as you come to know just correct it so that in future you won't repeat it again.
